Listening Resource Audit

A resource earns its place by supporting your current task, not by being popular. Copy this card into a private note and audit one main source at a time. Do not record passwords, client data, unauthorised third-party information, or unnecessary personal details.

1. Define the task

2. Check the conditions

Condition	Notes	Decision
Length and segments		Can it become a 30-second–5-minute practice unit?
Transcript quality		Human transcript / auto-captions / none; what needs checking?
Speed and accent		Slightly hard but repeatable, or beyond useful repetition?
Topic and motivation		Will I return to it during the next seven days?
Access and rights		Is it stable, lawful, and appropriate for personal study?
Privacy and safety		Should I avoid comments, live chat, or personal data?

Without a transcript, downgrade a resource to extensive listening or a parallel test. Do not use it for precise dictation scores.

3. Capture first-pass evidence

Do not label every problem “I forgot it.” Choose the closest category:

unknown vocabulary or syntax;
known words that were not segmented from sound;
linking, reduction, stress, or accent;
missing background knowledge;
attention, fatigue, or playback environment.

4. Run a seven-day loop

5	Change one condition: fewer captions or faster speed	New retelling

Score 0–2 for gist, key detail, segmentation, retelling comprehensibility, and parallel-source transfer. If there is no progress twice in a row, lower the difficulty or shorten the clip before replacing the resource.

5. Decide whether to keep it
